In addition to my duties as Research Associate and Administrative Assistant of the Slavic Research Group at the University of Ottawa (Groupe de recherche en études slaves à l'Université d'Ottawa) in Canada's capital, I am also a free-lance translator, specialising in literary translation (especially poetry translation) from Russian to English.

I am a Certified Translator (Russian-English) as recognised by the Association of Translators & Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO), as well as a member of the Literary Translators' Association of Canada (LTAC).

In May 2011 I was accepted as a member of the Russian Interregional Union of Writers (Rossijskij mezhregional'nyj sojuz pisatelej) and the Derzhavin Academy of Russian Literature & Fine Arts (Akademija russkoj slovesnosti i iz"jashchnykh iskusstv im. Derzhavina) in St-Petersburg.

A major project I undertook in 2005-2008 was the translation of the nine-volume Ringing Cedars Series by Vladimir Megré -- see:

These volumes are already enjoying a considerable readership in the English-speaking world, especially Australia and America.

My latest translation venture is a co-translation in English, with Arkadi Klioutchanski, of Sofia Andreevna Tolstaya's extensive autobiographical work "My life", under the editorship of Dr Andrew Donskov, Distinguished University Professor and Director of the Slavic Research Group at the University of Ottawa.  The 1250-page volume was released by the University of Ottawa Press in September 2010.  The publication of the original Russian version is about to be released by by the State L.N. In December 2011 it was officially announced that the translation of Tolstaya's "My life" won the Lois Roth Award presented by the Modern Language Association of America for the best translation of a literary work into English published in 2010.  It was also a finalist in the AATSEEL (American Assoication of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages) translation prize.  The volume as a whole was accorded an honourable mention by the Association of American Publishers for biographical works published in 2010.  Earlier it was selected by the Globe & Mail (Toronto) as one of the top 100 non-fiction books of 2010.

Its editor, Dr Donskov, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a recipient of Russia's prestigious Pushkin Medal, is the only member from outside Russia to sit on the editorial board of the new 100-volume edition of Tolstoy's works currently being published by the Russian Academy of Sciences.  As Director of the Slavic Research Group, he was awarded exclusive rights to the English translation and publication of "My life" by the Moscow Tolstoy Museum.
